Brooklyn Woman Confesses To Killing Newborn Baby, Gets 16 Years In Prison

Tiona Rodriguez, 21, told Manhattan prosecutors she delivered a baby boy at a friend’s house in Queens on Oct. 16, 2013, and immediately smothered the child.
Rodriguez made the confession as part of a manslaughter plea deal for a reduced prison sentence of 16 years in prison. She was facing life behind bars on a murder charge.
The 17-year-old was arrested after a security guard at the Victoria’s Secret in Herald Square suspected she was shoplifting.
The guard searched Rodriguez’s bag and found the dead infant, authorities said.
Rodriguez sent a text after the killing saying she wanted to “take this s— and dig a hole, put it somewhere, lol, then we go eat IHOP,” prosecutors said.
The district attorney also revealed that Rodriguez gave birth to a baby in her bathtub in 2012. Afterward she texted her boyfriend, “It’s dead.”
It is not clear how that infant died.

Sharon Jones, 47, was sentenced to 12 years, while her daughter Cecila McDonald, 28, got seven years, and 29-year-old son, Cedric Jones Jr., was sentenced to five years in prison.
Each pleaded guilty to felony family violence aggravated assault.
Another man, Lonnell McDonald, was convicted of aggravated assault in 2016 and sentenced to 10 years in prison in connection with the 2013 assault.
The victim, now 19, reported the attack in 2015.
Cayald is accused of raping his 13-year-old sister in August 2012. She became pregnant from the attack. When her relatives learned she was eight months’ pregnant, they forced her to take birth control pills and cinnamon tablets to try to abort the baby.
When that didn’t work, they held down the teen and took turns stomping on her pregnant belly.
During the attack, Cecila McDonald yelled at the teen, “Bitch, you ain’t about to get my kids taken away from me.”
“They held her down. They forced her to lay there while people stomped her,” Burris argued. “It was savage.”
They left the teen in a bathtub, where she lay bleeding, slipping in and out of consciousness, while her younger sister tried to care for her.
No one took her to the hospital or to visit a doctor. To treat the blood loss, the family gave her iron pills.
After the teen gave birth in the bathtub, Cecila McDonald put the stillborn baby into a bucket, and the family tried to burn the remains on a grill. When that didn’t work, Sharon Jones gave her son $25 to take care of it. He hid the remains in a bag in an unknown location.
