Man Coughs at Officer After COVID-19 Test; Held Without Bail!!

On Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at approximately 4:30 PM, a Deputy, assigned to work at Meritus Medical Center, assisted hospital security with an aggressive patient. The man, identified as Michael Palani Smith, 32, was in the Emergency Department. It was learned that Smith had been tested for COVID-19 prior to his arrival at the hospital. When asked to wear a protective bandana, Smith refused and became combative with staff and security.
Police say Smith yelled that he didn’t care if he infected others because no one cares about him. During the incident, the Washington Co Sheriff’s office says Smith pulled his bandana down and forcefully coughed several times in the direction of the Deputy and Security Officer.

John Swaller, 33, was charged Tuesday with second-degree making a terrorist threat in Crawford County. The sheriff’s office said he left the store Tuesday before officers arrived but was taken into custody later. He is jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail.
An employee at a Dollar Tree store called authorities because the man had been “purposely coughing toward other customers,” police said. The man also breathed on a cooler and used his finger to write the term COVID on the inside of the cooler, police said.

According to the complaint, 40-year-old Edward Babcock threatened a woman and her 10-year-old daughter shortly before coughing in their direction. Investigators said Babcock coughed on the girl’s neck.

The Met said the officer had been flagged down by a member of the public during a cycle patrol in Westminster when it happened on Tuesday afternoon.
Lewis was sentenced by Westminster magistrates after being convicted of assaulting an emergency worker.

Woman Charged With Removing Mask, Lunging And Coughing In Cop’s Face!!

The initial call at 12:41 a.m. to 335 E. Ettwein St. was to remove a man who Alexandra Nicole Detrick said was infected by the coronavirus , police said.
Detrick, who was wearing a medical mask and “appeared to be highly intoxicated and had .. slurred speech,” met officers outside the home, police said.
She removed her mask and asked officers to do the same, police said.
“Detrick became upset due to our response to the incident,” police said in court papers. “She turned her body toward (the officer) then lunged at the officer, deliberately coughing approximately four times in his face.” Detrick’s unlawful actions “possibly” exposed “the victim to COVID-19,” the disease that comes from the coronavirus, police said.
