After President Donald Trump floated ingesting highly toxic disinfectant as a treatment for the coronavirus, Kansas health authorities say a man drank cleaning product over the weekend.
Lee Norman, the state health officer, said the head of the Kansas Poison Control Center reported a more than 40 percent increase in cleaning chemical cases.
“Including a fellow over the weekend who drank a product because of the advice he’d received,” Norman said during a news conference Monday.

2 Georgia Men Drank Cleaning Products To Fight Coronavirus

Georgia Poison Control Director Gaylord Lopez told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the men in Atlanta had mental health issues and are expected to recover after drinking the products over the weekend.

The Maryland emergency hotline has received more than 100 calls from residents asking about the use of disinfectants, telling them that “under no circumstances” should they be used as treatment for the novel coronavirus.
The calls led the Maryland Emergency Medical Agency to post a tweet alerting residents not to ingest the harmful products.
